About Silvermark

The Silvermark story begins when Wendy Silver, a stay-at-home mother of two, was trying to recreate a chopped salad that she had eaten in a New York City restaurant. "I am always trying to eat as healthy as possible and chopped salads are my absolute favorite healthy dish, but they are a pain to prepare at home," says Wendy, "I thought it would be easier if I could just put all of my salad ingredients right into the bowl, and mix and chop everything at the same time." She quickly sketched the device that would become the Toss & Chop™Salad Chopper. While experimenting with her invention, Wendy discovered that, in addition to chopping healthy salad ingredients, such as tomatoes, onions and all types of lettuce and vegetables, the Toss & Chop™ also chopped a wide variety of foods with ease. " With my Toss & Chop™, even though it was invented to chop salads, I can also chop up toddler food, chicken salad, pasta sauce, and much more, without using my knives or cutting board."

Wendy's husband,Michael, shared her vision for the potential of the chopper and in 2001 he resigned from his position in finance and operations at a major cosmetics company and they established Silvermark. Together, they worked to refine the Toss & Chop™ into its current design. "We wanted to create a product that exceeded everyone's expectations," says Michael, "and I think we succeeded."

The world was first introduced to the Toss & Chop™ in January 2002, when the product was launched on QVC where it sold out in 6 minutes. Oprah wanted to get to know its inventor and Wendy was featured twice on The Oprah Winfrey Show and made the "O List" in O Magazine. The Today Show on NBC featured Wendy to inspire other aspiring entrepreneurs, and Donnie Deutsch invited Michael and Wendy to his show "The Big Idea" to talk about starting a successful business. To date, millions of Toss & Chop™ Salad Choppers have been sold around the world and it is available in retail stores nationwide. The Silvermark line has also expanded to include additional high quality, patented food preparation tools, utensils, and food storage containers that can be seen on the Products Page of this website.
