Recipes

My love for salad goes back to the childhood summers I spent on my grandparent's farm in Missouri where every meal featured freshly picked tomatoes, crisp lettuces, green beans, scallions, spinach, or other vegetables, straight from my grandmother's garden. I suppose that is why meals seem incomplete to me unless accompanied by a vibrant, luscious salad.

My personal favorite is a chopped salad, which is exactly what I was making when the idea for the Toss & Chop Salad Chopper popped into my head. It seemed to me that there had to be a better way to chop and mix my salad ingredients, rather than painstakingly chopping every ingredient, one at a time, with a knife on a cutting board. The Toss & Chop Salad Chopper simplifies this process and I am now able to whip up a quick chopped salad whenever I want!

I have been collecting chopped salad recipes, experimenting with dressings, and ordering them in restaurants for years, long before the creation of the Toss & Chop. The Silvermark salad  recipes posted here are just a few of my favorite salad combinations, along with some helpful tips for making great chopped salads on your own.

My first and number one rule is that there are no rules! A chopped salad can be whatever you want it to be. It may be a light, refreshing mix of greens and vegetables, or a hearty combination featuring grilled steak and gorgonzola cheeze. I hope you have fun creating your own salads and enjoy using your Toss & Chop.
